Movie Review - Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

By Emily Thomas

The new movie Ghost Rider Spirit of the Vengeance is set to be released on February 17, 2012, and is a 3D film that is based on the antihero Ghost Rider from Marvel Comics. This movie review will give you an idea of what to expect in this sequel to the 2007 movie. The role of Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze will once again be portrayed by Nicolas Cage, and the movie has been directed by Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine.

Ghost Rider Spirit of the Vengeance has been set a number of years after the original film, and shows that Johnny Blaze has put himself in a self-imposed exile from the rest of the world. Johnny is now very tormented because he believes that his powers are a curse. Moreau, who is a part of the Monastic Order of Michael the Warrior Angel, approaches Blaze.

The film has been scored by Michale Giacchino, produced by Lindsey Collins, Colin Wilson and Jim Morris, written by Michael Chabon, Mark Andrews and Andrew Stanton, and has also been directed by Andrew Stanton. It can be revealed in this movie review that Walt Disney Pictures will be distributing the film, and it is expected to be released on March 9, 2012 in theaters across the United States in both IMAX 3D and Digital 3D formats.

This sequel was very Americanized with the humor played out with a very blatant delivery. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was of Scottish descent, but wrote Sherlock in a very, very English rendition. The humor was layered deep, as Doyle never wrote down to his readers. He knew that those who read his books would turn their backs quickly if they felt the story was sub-par. He stayed on course with strong, adventurous crime solving along with detailed descriptions that led the reader to follow the path to the guilty party. His anecdotes were complete, leaving little room for an alternative ending. Sherlock illustrated step by step how he came to the conclusion in each case.

Probably the biggest asset of this movie is the fact that it has been directed by the duo Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine (who have also directed the Crank movies). The action films that this duo directs are among the best in the business. Furthermore, the fact that Nicolas Cage has returned to play the role of Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze is a primary contributing factor to why fans are anxiously waiting for the official theater release of the movie.

Those involved in the writing and directing chose to present dialogue related directly to the story in a less than complete fashion while relying fully on the visual aspect of the film.

Andrew Stanton is very proud to call John Carter his live adventure directional debut, and based on the trailer for this movie, it is quite clear why he is confident about the film. Stanton knows how to transform his big ideas into something worth watching; and even though there was limited information available about this movie, critics believe that it will be one of the best movies of 2012.
